Sealants

What is this?

Dental sealants are protective resin coatings applied to the surfaces of the teeth-especially the molars and premolars-to protect them from cavities. These teeth have deep grooves where bacteria can settle and cause decay. The sealant is applied to these areas, creating a protective barrier that prevents plaque and food from getting into the crevices. Sealants are especially recommended for children and teenagers, as their permanent teeth have just come in and are more vulnerable to cavities. Sealants are a simple and effective preventive method for maintaining good dental health.
