Orthodontic examination

Orthodontic examination

First step

The orthodontic examination is the first essential step in evaluating the health of your smile and making an accurate diagnosis. It is a simple, painless consultation tailored to each patient, regardless of their age.

Second step

During this first meeting, we take the time to discuss with you (or your child) your dental history, habits (breathing, chewing, swallowing, etc.), and any aesthetic or functional concerns you may have.

The dentist then performs a visual examination of your mouth: the position of the teeth, the occlusion (i.e., how the upper and lower teeth fit together), the condition of the gums, and jaw growth if the examination is for a child or teenager.

Depending on the needs, we may perform:

  • an impression of your teeth,
  • X-rays to visualize internal structures that are not visible to the naked eye.

Explanation of the diagnosis and treatment plan
Once all the information has been gathered, we will clearly explain the diagnosis and possible treatment options: type of appliance, estimated duration, frequency of appointments, etc.
