Boys aged
12-15

Using growth to achieve optimal results!

Adolescents enter their second growth spurt between the ages of 12 and 15. During this period, corrections can be made not only to the teeth, but also to the jaws.

Orthodontic treatment at this age helps to:

  • Guiding jaw growth
  • Correcting the difference in size between the two jaws.
  • The alignment of teeth
  • The duration is between 12 to 24 months

The duration of orthodontic treatment depends on the following factors:

  • The complexity of the malocclusion.
  • The patient’s age.
  • Adherence to appointment frequency
  • The patient’s cooperation.

Example treatment of a boy with a Class II malocclusion.

PHASE ONE

Phase 1 – The goal is to influence the direction of jaw growth. Treatment begins around age 7-8 with an interceptive appliance to ensure a normal relationship between the upper and lower jaws.

Before

Second phase.

The goal is to achieve a normal relationship between the upper and lower jaws, along with balanced tooth alignment. This phase generally begins around age 12. We may use an expansion appliance, an appliance with facial traction, or braces. Thanks to the treatment completed in Phase 1, Phase 2 is typically easier and shorter in duration.
